Jodhpur: Sana Firdaus, a resident of Jodhpur, Rajasthan, lives a house that welcomes different species of birds and serves as a pit stop for them. Numerous birds visit her house each morning and evening to enjoy food, leisure, and then depart. Sana’s daily routine of providing food and water for these birds has established a trust between her and her sky friends.

Who is Sana Firdaus?

Sana Firdaus grew up in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. She holds a master’s degree in English. She is married and has three children. She has transformed her house into a mini zoo for the birds. A deep-rooted passion for birds since childhood led Sana to convert her home into a haven for them. Disturbed by the declining bird population, she embarked on a mission to care for and provide for the birds around her.

Making bird feeders

Sana Firdaus shares that when she first installed a bird feeder, there were no birds for the first couple of days. However, over time, birds started flocking to the feeder. The sound of the birds twittering filled her house with positivity. Inspired by this she began making bird feeders from waste materials she found at home.

Whenever something in the house was damaged, she would use her creativity skills to transform that into a bird feeder. Consequently, her home witnessed more visits by birds. Furthermore, Sana ensures good food and drink for the birds while maintaining cleanliness in her home.

Different species of birds

Sana Firdaus mentions that initially, birds such as sparrows and bulbuls, used to visit her home. However, her commendable efforts have attracted a diverse range of birds like tailorbirds, sunbirds, jungle babblers and more.

Using creativity

Along with being a bird-enthusiast, Sana is also extremely creative. For instance, instead of discarding sauce bottles, she transforms them into colourful vases. She decorates plastic and cardboard boxes using some rope. Her dedication has been recognized with numerous honours and awards across the country.
