Their names are Yogesh, Madhavi, Kshama, and Lokesh. On this special occasion of Raksha Bandhan, learn about the UPSC success story of these four siblings.
From a Government School and Two-Room House to UPSC Civil Services
The Mishra family's life was far removed from the glitz and glamour of big cities. Their home was small, just two rooms, but their dreams were big. Their father, Anil Mishra, a manager in a rural bank, always wanted his children to achieve great things through education. He never let the lack of resources become an excuse. All four siblings studied in a government school and excelled in their studies from the beginning. Learn how these siblings journeyed from a two-room house to the civil services.
When the Brother Took the UPSC Exam for His Sisters
The most heartwarming part of the story is that the elder brother, Yogesh, who was working in a software company after completing his engineering, started preparing for UPSC because his sisters were repeatedly facing setbacks. Yogesh took his sisters' struggles as his own challenge. On Raksha Bandhan, he promised them that he would take the exam himself and show them the way.
UPSC Success of Four Siblings
Yogesh Mishra first achieved success in UPSC CSE 2013 through the reserve list. Today, he is an IAS officer. The following year, his sister Madhavi brought the second success to the family by securing 62nd rank in 2014. Lokesh, an IIT Delhi engineer, cleared UPSC in 2015 with 44th rank. Then came Kshama, who started by becoming a Deputy SP in 2015 but wasn't satisfied. She reappeared for the exam in 2016 and became an IPS officer. All four achieved success at different times, but they never stopped supporting each other throughout this journey.
Yogesh prepared for UPSC himself, studied old notes, understood the pattern, and then taught his self-made shortcuts, notes, and tricks to his sisters. Studying in two rooms of the house wasn't easy, but instead of disturbing each other, they supported one another. The sisters acknowledged that Yogesh not only guided them but also instilled confidence in them. This is why each subsequent success was better than the previous one.
Inspiring Success Stories
In today's era, where people are busy trying to outdo each other in competition, the Mishra family has shown that when you walk together, even the toughest goals seem achievable. This Raksha Bandhan teaches us that nothing is impossible if siblings stand by each other.
