Indore: The tea businesses in India are gaining immense popularity since the last few years. From BA Chaiwala to BTech Chaiwali, all the tea ventures are known for providing best quality tea at affordable prices to their customers. Another similar success story is of a journalist from Indore, who quit his job to set up a tea stall called ‘Patrakar Tea House.’

Who is Keshav Maratha?

Keshav Maratha, a former journalist, worked in the media industry for several years. He had borne many responsibilities on his shoulders. He worked as a video journalist for 13 years before deciding to launch his own business. Keshav shares that during the beginning of his journalism career, he used to earn Rs 16,000 per month. Today, he makes around Rs 1000 to Rs 1200 every day. He devotes 6 hours of his day to his work, and then he spends valuable time with his family.

From journalism to owning a business

Keshav Maratha sets up his stall near the Zanjeerwala intersection of Indore from 5.30 in the morning to 12 noon. Along with the excellent quality of tea, he also serves delicious Poha to his customers. Keshav has been married for 5 years. He is a father to an 11-month-old son. The tea business has allowed him to make a better living for his family.

Making profits

It has only been a month since Keshav Maratha inaugurated his tea shop. A full cup of tea is priced at Rs 10, and a half cup of tea is sold at Rs 7; the price of a plate of poha is Rs 15. He shares that he will add more items to his menu as the profits will start coming in.

Keshav shares that his wife, Ankita has proved to be his greatest supporter. She has always encouraged him to do what makes him happy. Keshav spent years carrying heavy filming equipment everywhere and the thought of venturing into an entirely unfamiliar arena was a bit worrying at first. Despite having qualms about opening a tea stall, he made a new start to his life, and is glad that he ventured into making a new path for him.
