The Indian Army is establishing two Army Girls Sports Companies (AGSC) gradually in line with the national goals of "women empowerment" and "Nari Shakti" demonstration.
The objective is to find young talent, give the girls a formal education, handle various administrative duties, and prepare them to be elite athletes in their chosen sports.

The Army Sports Institute in Pune and the Army Marksmanship Unit in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, two Army Centers of Excellence nodes, will house the AGSCs. The AGSC will begin operations in full force in April 2024.

There is top-notch training equipment, a sports medicine center, a rehabilitation center, and associated coaching facilities at both locations. The success of Boys Sports Companies is definitive evidence that the Indian Army has extensive expertise in scouting for youthful potential.

The senior Army teams and athletes that practice at these places will also benefit from this young potential. These young girls will find inspiration from senior athletes, as they can successfully copy international athletes and regularly acquire the necessary abilities.

In addition to enrolling as agniveers, the girls at AGSCs will be qualified for recruitment as direct entry non-commissioned officers and direct entry junior commissioned officers.

As a result of being recognized as a talent, Subedar Preeti Rajak, a silver medalist in the Asian Games and champion trap shooter, enlisted in the Corps of Military Police in December 2022 as a Havildar.
January 2024 saw the promotion of the first female soldier to subedar. At the Army Marksmanship Unit at Mhow, where one of the two Army Girls Sports Companies is being formed, she receives her training.

Jasmine Lamboria, who won a bronze medal in the 2022 Commonwealth Games, had also enlisted in the Indian Army in October 2022 as a non-commissioned officer prior to her. Army officials stated that these role models will motivate the young athletes to aim for success in their particular sports.
