During Navratri fasting period, many devotees consume dishes made from Singhara (water chestnut), potatoes, and sabudana (sago). Eating the same kind of food for nine days may become boring. However, you can experiment with these same ingredients to create something new. We have a special paratha recipe for your that will delight your taste buds. So, let’s learn how to make it at home this Navratri season.

Ingredients you are going to need:

•    1 cup of sama rice (Vrat chawal)
•    ¾ cup of water
•    2 tbsp of peanut oil
•    Ginger
•    2-3 green chillies
•    Curry leaves
•    1 cup of grated bottle gourd
•    1 tbsp rock salt
•    2 tbsp peanuts
•    1 tbsp black pepper powder
•    Chopped coriander
•    Ghee

Follow these instructions:

Step 1- Soak 1 cup of sama rice in water for 3-4 hours. It is suitable for fasting and can be consumed during Navratri period. Once soaked, grind the rice well to prepare a paste. 

Step 2- On a stove, heat a pan and add peanut oil. Then proceed to add half a spoon of chopped ginger, chopped green chillies, and curry leaves. Fry the mixture. 

Step 3- Add the grated bottle gourd to the pan and sprinkle chopped coriander on top. Mix all the ingredients together.

Step 4- Add the rice batter to prepared tadka and mix thoroughly. 

Step 5- Take a different pan, heat it, and grease it with ghee. 

Step 6- Spread the prepared batter evenly on the pan using a ladle. Cover the pan with a lid and cook over medium heat for about a minute. Drizzle ghee around the edges. 

Step 7- Flip the paratha and fry until it turns golden brown on both sides. 

Your paratha is ready to be enjoyed! Serve it with green chutney for a perfect Navratri meal!
