Repolling at Kalamassery; election officer forgets to clear mock poll votes

Thiruvananthapuram: The Election Commission has decided to conduct a repoll in one booth at Kalamassery in Ernakulam district. The chief electoral officer Teeka Ram Meena said the date of repolling will be announced soon.

The re-polling will be conducted in booth number 83, after it was found that the presiding officer forgot to clear the mock poll votes from the machine before actual polling began. At the end of the election, an indifference of 43 votes was found. The total number of votes cast was 715, but the voter-verifiable paper audit trial machine displayed 758 votes. Teeka Ram Meena also said that an investigation would be conducted after repolling.
