Kochi: A massive fire broke out in a commercial establishment in Ernakulam, Kerala. The incident occurred on Monday at a shop named Pappu and Sons in Broadway, Ernakulam. The shop is a wholesale store that deals in textiles. The blaze later spread to a nearby bakery.
The roof of the building has been completely gutted in the fire. Four other shops near the building were also completely destroyed in the inferno.
People working in nearby areas were evacuated immediately. According to reports, it is suspected that a short circuit problem might have triggered the fire. Four units of the Kerala fire and rescue services have been deployed to put out the blaze.
Broadway is known as the commercial hub of Ernakulam district, Kerala.
No casualties have been reported so far.
