Carcass of humpback dolphin washes ashore in Dhanushkodi

Dhanushkodi: A six-year-old humpback dolphin was found dead on Sunday in Dhanushkodi, Tamil Nadu. The Mandapam forest range officer S Sathish, who examined the carcass, said that the dolphin had sustained a head injury and it must have died a couple of days ago.

According to reports, humpback dolphins are commonly found in a large number near the Gulf of Mannar and could have washed ashore as the sea was rough for the last two days following gusty winds in the area.
