Attack on cleric: Muslim leaders say ‘we respect Shri Ram, will not allow destruction of harmony’

Baghpat: A Muslim cleric Imlakur Rahman had claimed that he was assaulted by a group of 10-12 people, who forced him to chant 'Jai Shri Ram'. Rahman was allegedly stopped by the mob when he was returning home in Sarora village and was attacked.

Rahman had filed a complaint, but the police had claimed that there was no communal angle to the incident and stated that it was just a case of assault. Jamiat Ulema regional chief Haji Shahid along with others met the maulana who was assaulted and said that Muslims respect Sri Ram, and that those involved in assault must be punished.
