Try these quick sattu recipes for healthy digestion this summer

Sattu is a flour made of roasted horse gram and has been a key ingredient in Indian households for ages. It is an extremely healthy and rich source of plant-based protein and provides essential amino acids and other nutrients to the body.

It is an excellent ingredient to incorporate in foods, such as beverages and sweets, as it aids digestion and improves gut health. This summer try these quick and easy sattu recipes to get a healthy gut and add essential protein to your diet.

1. Sattu drink 

 

 

Ingredients required: 

  • 2 tablespoons sattu flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon roasted cumin powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black salt
  • 1 tablespoon jaggery or sugar
  • 1 cup chilled water 

Instructions:

Take a glass and mix all the dry ingredients i.e. sattu flour, cumin powder, black salt, and sugar. Gradually add chilled water and stir to mix the ingredients. You can also add ice cubes for a refreshing and uber-cool drink. 

2. Sattu cheela 

 

 

Ingredients required:

  • 1 cup sattu flour
  • chopped onion 
  • chopped coriander leaves 
  • chopped green chilli (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • salt to taste 
  • water 
  • ghee or oil for cooking 

Instructions:

Combine sattu flour, chopped onions, green chilli, and coriander leaves in a mixing bowl. Add salt and turmeric. Start gradually adding water while mixing until a smooth batter forms. Heat a non-stick pan or tawa and grease it with ghee or cooking oil. Pour a small amount of batter and shape it with a ladle. Cook both sides until golden brown and crispy. Serve with curd or pickle. 

3. Sattu paratha 

 

 

Ingredients required: 

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour 
  • 1/4 cup sattu flour 
  • finely chopped onion 
  • finely chopped green chilli
  • salt to taste
  • water 
  • ghee or oil for cooking 

Instructions: 

Combine wheat flour, sattu flour, chopped onions, green chilli, and salt in a mixing bowl. Gradually add water and knead the dough. Divide the dough into small balls and roll them into flat circles (parathas). Heat a tawa and grease with ghee or cooking oil. Cook the parathas on both sides adding ghee or oil until golden brown. Serve hot with dahi, pickles, or chutney.
