Delicious and Easy Rajma Recipe

Rajma Chawal is a beloved Indian dish. It is a comfort food liked by many. Made with simple ingredients and packed with protein, it is perfect for vegetarians. Here is a simple and easy-to-follow recipe for you. 

Ingredients you are going to need:

•    1 cup dried kidney beans (rajma)
•    3 cups water 
•    2 tablespoons oil or ghee
•    1 onion, finely chopped
•    2 tomatoes, finely chopped
•    2 cloves garlic, minced
•    1-inch piece of ginger, grated
•    1 green chili, finely chopped (optional)
•    1 teaspoon cumin seeds
•    1 teaspoon turmeric powder
•    1 teaspoon red chili powder
•    1 teaspoon coriander powder
•    salt to taste
•    Chopped fresh coriander leaves for garnish

Follow these instructions:

Step 1- Clean the dried rajma and rinse it under cold water. Let them soak for at least 6 hours or overnight. 

Step 2- After soaking, drain rajma and rinse them again. Transfer them to a pressure cooker.

Step 3- Cook for about 3-4 whistles. 

Step 4- Heat oil or ghee in a large pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter. Add chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.

Step 5- Add minced garlic, grated ginger, and chopped green chilli. Sauté for another minute.

Step 6- Next, add chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and mushy. Then proceed to add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and coriander powder. Mix well and cook for a couple of minutes.

Step 7- Add the cooked rajma along with any remaining cooking water to the pan. Stir well to combine.

Step 8- Add salt to taste and cook it for 10-15 minutes.

Step 9- Once the rajma reaches the desired consistency, garnish it with chopped fresh coriander leaves.

Serve hot with rice or naan for a delicious and wholesome meal.
