A 2022 video of Tesla owner and world's second richest man revealing that he used to sleep on the floor beneath his desk in his factories, has gone viral once again. He had shared this story during the 29th Annual Baron Investment Conference in New York. Musk said he used to sleep on the floor to encourage his staff and let them know he was there for them.

In the video, which now has over 530,000 views on social media platform X, Musk talks about the time when he used to sleep on a couch in one of his factories. In due course, he traded his couch for a tent atop the roof. Yet, ultimately, he opted to sleep beneath his desk, directly on the floor, ensuring visibility to his staff during shift transitions. Musk clarified that this move aimed to reassure employees of his solidarity, rather than indulging in leisure elsewhere.

A user on platform X shared a video along with a quote attributed to Musk, which highlighted his rationale: "The reason I slept on the floor was not because I couldn't go across the road and be at a hotel. It was because I wanted my circumstances to be worse than anyone else at the company. Whenever they felt pain, I wanted mine to be worse."

"Isn't that a sign of true leadership?" one X user remarked. "Unlike Elon Musk, most bosses are hard on others but lenient on themselves," they continued. Another user emphasized, "Leaders should remain intimately connected to the work." A third user expressed, "He epitomizes leading by example."

"Elon is incredibly inspiring," chimed in a fourth commenter. "The best leaders demonstrate that they will do whatever it takes, be on the front lines with their teams, and support them through the toughest challenges," observed a fifth.
