A Reddit post from Ireland has gone viral, sparking a recent debate about the toxic work cultures around the world. A college student made a post on Reddit sharing her mother's work email, which showcases how her employer is pressuring her to return to work during her ongoing treatment for stage 4 cancer.

The post was made by a user named @disneydoll96, she wrote, "My Mum has stage 4 cancer in 5 areas and her boss has been pressuring her to come back to work."

The original poster also talked about her mother's condition and how the boss has been asking her to rejoin even after being aware of her situation. She wrote, "My Mam is 50 years old and been with this company for just under a decade. She was diagnosed 18 months ago and her workplace was notified right away, meaning the boss has been aware of the severity of the illness for a long time. Asking for welfare meetings less than 24 hours in advance is nuts."

The comment section is full of comments wishing her mother well and slamming the company for forcing her during her cancer treatment. Sharing their personal experience with horrible bosses, one user commented, "Some bosses are the worst. While not on the scale of your mum, my son's boss threatened to fire him if he didn't come in for his shift when his grandfather (my FIL) was in the ICU for septic shock. This was after we told her he had a 50/50 chance of survival. It took every ounce of energy I had not to tell her off right then and there. When he quits over the summer, she and I are going to have a conversation about how to treat people."
