Sri Lanka: Suspecting LTTE buried gold treasure, court permits excavation of site at Mullaitivu
The Sri Lankan court ordered advanced excavation of private land in search of treasure. It is suspected that the LTTE buried gold in the plot after the war ended in 2009
Mullaitivu: Sri Lanka Police are supervising excavation work at a private house in Sivanagar suspecting that the LTTE had buried gold in its premises after the group lost the battle with the Sri Lanka Army in 2009.
Excavation work has been going on since June 27.
The arrest of 14 people who were charged with excavating private lands in search of treasure led the court to suspect its existence in the land and gave permission for advanced search in the identified premises.
