March 2024 brings an auspicious day for Hindus known as Maha Shivratri. The day is notable as the festival honors the marriage of Shiva and Parvati as well as the moment when Shiva performs the Tandava dance.

1.Somnath Temple, Gujrat
One of Lord Shiva's twelve Jyotirlinga temples, Somnath Temple, is extremely important to Hindu mythology. The first of India's twelve sacred jyotirlingas is said to have arisen at the elaborately carved, honey-colored Somnath temple on the state's western border. 

2. Trimbakeshwar Shiva Temple, Nasik
Trimbakeshwar Shiva Temple is a Hindu temple devoted to Lord Shiva that is situated between the three hills known as Brahmagiri, Nilagiri, and Kalagiri. Three lingams, symbolizing Shiva, Vishnu, and Brahma, are kept in the shrine. The temple that stands today was built by Peshwa Balaji Baji Rao.

3. Mahakaleshwar Temple, Madhya Pradesh
Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga is a Hindu temple of Lord Shiva, one of the twelve temples known as Jyotirlingas that are considered to be Shiva's most sacred dwelling places.
All the other Jyotirlingas face eastward; Mahakal is the lone one facing south. 

4. Kedarnath Temple, Uttrakhand
The most significant of the Panch Kedars, Kedarnath Temple is devoted to Lord Shiva and is one of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams, the most powerful Shiva temples worldwide. The distinctive lingam of the Kedarnath Temple is among its most fascinating characteristics. Here, devotees think Lord Shiva worships himself.

5.Lingaraj Temple, Bhuvneshwar
Lingaraj Shiva Temple is one of the most well-known Shiva temples in India and features magnificent Kalinga architecture. It is the biggest temple in Bhubaneshwar and was built during the Somavamsi Dynasty, according to the archives. One of the best times to visit this temple is during Maha Shivratri, when crowds of people swarm the location in search of blessings.

6.Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga, Ujjain
Another well-known Shiva temple in India is Omkareshwar. One of Shiva's twelve holy Jyotirlinga temples, it is situated on an island known as Shivapuri in the Narmada River. As the temple is close to bodies of water, it offers an amazing view. 

7.Kailash Temple, Maharashtra
One of the most significant temples in the city is the Kailasanathar Temple, which is devoted to Lord Shiva, the lord of Mount Kailash. The huge temple complex consists of sixty lesser shrines, but its most notable feature is the main deity, Lord Shiva, who has sixteen stripes.
