Jamnagar is a royal city, known for its renowned nature sanctuaries, Jamnagar is a royal city. The city itself boasts palaces, forts, and temples, but what really makes it unique are the Marine National Park, the Gaga Wildlife Sanctuary, and the Khijadia Bird Sanctuary, which are the only three of their kind in India. Despite the threat posed by refineries and the cement industry, eco-conservation efforts safeguard the exquisite gift that nature has been pleased to bestow upon this princely domain.

Khijadia Bird Sanctuary

Khijadiya is a bird sanctuary situated in Khijadiya Village in the Jamnagar district of Gujarat, 16 km from Jamnagar Railway Station. One of the most well-known bird sanctuaries in Gujarat, it is located off the coast of Kutch and is a must-see location for Jamnagar tourism tours. The sanctuary is 6 square kilometers in size, with freshwater lakes on one side of the Ruparel River check dam and saltwater marshes and mangroves on the other side that lead to the sea. 
Among the most popular tourist destinations in Jamnagar, the sanctuary is a true paradise for avian enthusiasts, housing over 250 species of both resident and migratory birds, including some species that are under risk worldwide, including the black-necked stork, darter, black-headed ibis, Asian openbill stork, Indian skimmer, and Eurasian spoonbill.

Gaga Wildlife Sanctuary

This sanctuary is in a protected area and is located in the taluka of Kalyanpur. The establishment took place in November of 1988. This park is actually 332.87 hectares in size. Both native and migratory birds flourish here, shielded from man and raptors. Spotted ducks, flamingos, white pelicans, and other species live in harmony with one another. Rules like no smoking, no disruptive conduct, no trash, no picking of plants, and no upsetting the local wildlife must be followed by visitors. There are no facilities, so guests must bring their own food. 

The Marine National Park

Stretching across 270 square kilometers from Jodiya to Okha, a declared marine sanctuary, this is the only one of its sort. As defined in 1982, the total area of Marine National Park is 110 square kilometers. At high tide, you can take an exciting boat ride on the saltwater. Conversely, with low tides, a magnificent array of marine plants and animals awaits your admiration. It's a protected area with some of the gulf's most amazing marine life. Highlights that attract you to visit this national park in the Jamnagar district include saline grasslands, mangrove woods, coral reefs, estuaries, creeks, and marshy coasts.

Barda Hill Wildlife Sanctuary

The Barda Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in front of the Arabian Sea, around 15 kilometers from Porbandar city. Formerly, the princely states of Jamnagar and Ranavav (Porbandar) possessed this sanctuary, which was a private forest. This forest is still known as the Jam Barda or Rana Barda because of this. This forest was designated a "sanctuary" in 1979. Barda Wildlife Sanctuary has a beautiful floral arrangement. About 650 plant species including rayan, acacia, ber, jamun, amli, gorad, bamboo, dhava and dhudhalo are present in the sanctuary.

The Ranjitsagar Dam

Near the city, the Ranjitsagar Dam serves as a sort of mini-sanctuary for many birds that use it as a home and hunting area. Situated near Dared along State Highway 229 on the Sama Road, it is just a short distance from Bedi Gate. The dam serves the city's water supply in addition to being a well-liked picnic location and a site for birds to build their nests.
