National Sports Awards  

 For the National Sports Awards 2020, Hockey India (HI) has revealed its nominations. Indian women's hockey team captain Rani has been nominated for the Khel Ratna Award.

'Due to lockdown on account of outbreak of COVID-19, hard copies of nominations are not required to be sent. Scanned copies of the nominations duly signed by the applicant and recommending authority may be sent at above mentioned email ids, before last date of submission,' the sports ministry said

On the occasion of National Sports Day (August 29), President Ram Nath Kovind presented the National Sports Awards at a function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Poonam collected her award in person while Jadeja could not as he is on national duty preparing for the second Test in Jamaica against West Indies

The 12-member committee is headed by Supreme Court judge Justice (Retd) Mukundakam Sharma and comprises sports secretary Radhey Shyam Jhulaniya, Sports Authority of India (SAI) director general Sandeep Pradhan, Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) CEO Commander Rajesh Rajagopalan, Mary Kom, Bhutia, ex-women's cricket team captain Anjum Chopra, celebrated former long jumper Anju Bobby George and table tennis coach Kamlesh Mehta among others
