ISRO is gearing up for the crucial landing of ‘Vikram’ - Chandrayaan 2’s moon lander. It is expected to be carried out by 8 people in coordination. The landing is a much awaited event that will be witnessed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Bengaluru. Students from across the country are also expected to watch it alongside PM Modi. 

While ISRO scientists wait for the soft-landing of Chandrayaan 2’s Vikram lander on the moon, scientists now recall the nail-biting experience during the launch of India’s first lunar mission. 
 

The Chandrayaan-2 mission has completed all its orbit manoeuvres around the moon.  ISRO now aims to create history by making India the first nation to reach close to the moon's south pole in its first attempt.

India accepted the consular access extended by Pakistan to death-row convict Kulbhushan Jadhav and a senior Indian diplomat is meeting him on Monday, official sources said as tensions over Kashmir simmer between the two countries. IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman flew a joint sortie with Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa in MiG-21 fighter. The lander on the Chandrayan 2 mission is called Vikram, named after Vikram Sarabhai. He was an Indian scientist, physicist, and astronomer. He is also known as the Father of the Indian Space Program.

ISRO has scheduled the soft landing of the Vikram lander for September 7. Scientists at the Indian Space Research Organisation in Bengaluru would be engaged in this process which is expected to be completed by 1:55am.

The space agency shared the news on Twitter, revealing that the "Rolling Stones Rock" was a stone that was sent rolling after NASA's InSight lander touched down on the Mars' surface.

Less than an hour before lift-off, India's second mission to the moon, Chandrayaan-2 was called off due to a technical snag. The lift-off of the three-component spacecraft weighing 3,850 kg and comprising an orbiter, the lander and the rover was scheduled from Satish Dhawan Space Centre.
