Kiren Rijiju, the Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports on Thursday brushed aside the threat of coronavirus and said India would participate in 2020 Tokyo Olympics in full flow. The Department of Sports organised Nine events in the month of January 2020 under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat Programme (EBSB) in various parts of the country to promote the spirit of National integration through sports.

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is set to organise the first-ever Khelo India Winter Games in the Union Territory of Ladakh in the third week of February and in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir in the first week of March.

Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports, Kiren Rijiju said that the youth of J&K are full of capabilities but require opportunities to prove themselves. Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju and actor Suniel Shetty have called for a clean and drug-free sports culture, urging Khelo India athletes to refrain from any banned substances. The minister promised the athletes that they would be given full support as long as they stay away from banned substances.

'We will form a committee for the Sports Code. This committee will be very credible. After the recommendation of the committee, I can say anything. We will bring the Sports Code, which will be acceptable to all. We cannot ignore anyone from the society,' Kiren Rijiju said
