Indo Pacific Region

 The US, India, Japan and Australia are exploring to evolve a common approach on 5G telecom technology, expanding their strategic cooperation under the framework of Quadrilateral coalition or "Quad" which was primarily focused on the Indo-Pacific region

The continued cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region and also the stability in Afghanistan would be two key issues that would be up for discussion between Trump and Modi. 

Defence minister Rajnath Singh met Singapore’s deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat and discussed bilateral defence operations. In the meeting, Singh also referred to India's stand on the South China Sea and the Indo-Pacific region. There has been concern over China's aggressive military posturing in the Indo-Pacific region.
 

The document stressed that US vision and approach in the Indo-Pacific region aligns closely with Japan's Free and Open Indo-Pacific concept, India's Act East Policy, Australia's Indo-Pacific concept, Korea's New Southern Policy. It slammed China for practicing repression at home and abroad.

The visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Japan for the G20 Summit in Osaka gave him an opportunity to exchange views with his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe for the first time in his second term.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has held discussions with US President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe about the Indo-Pacific region during the G20 Summit. The trilateral meeting between the leaders was the second Japan-America-India or JAI meeting.
 

New Delhi will be the first stop for the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo's week long visit to the Indo-Pacific region. He's likely to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss Indo-US bilateral ties. 

The idea of an Indo-Pacific Regional Dialogue (IPRD) was first conceptualised and conducted in 2018, as the apex level conference of the Indian Navy, organised by the National Maritime Foundation as the Navy’s Knowledge Partner
