Somali pirates' attempt to use a stolen merchant ship as a base for their operations was stopped by the Indian Navy. The MV Ruen was hijacked and was about 1,400 nautical miles off the coast of India. The Navy confirmed in a statement that all 17 crew members were successfully evacuated.

Tejas is a fighter jet developed by India’s Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). Tejas aircraft took its first flight in the year 2001. On 22 March 2016, it received the Initial Operational Clearance (IOC).

Navy Chief Admiral R. Hari Kumar talked about proposing gender-neutral nomenclature and embracing inclusivity in the Indian Navy. Many Indian institutes like IIT Delhi and NALSAR are also adopting gender-neutral policies.
