Bird Watching  

Vacations that include bird watching provide a special fusion of excitement, calm, and exploration. These trips offer a close-up view of the bird kingdom to both enthusiasts and indifferent onlookers, exhibiting the beauty, diversity, and behavior of different bird species in diverse environments.

According to GBBC, India has the third most species of birds in the world after Colombia and Ecuador. There are a total of 1036 species of birds in India with West Bengal having the most of them. Kerela had the most number of bird checklists submitted to GBBC 2024. This year, bird watchers from all the states and UTs of India participated in the event. 

Kaushlendra Singh’s interest in wildlife conservation was inspired by the renowned conservationist Billy Arjan Singh. Today, he dedicates himself entirely to the conservation of tigers and other wildlife. His other passions include wildlife photography, gardening, and bird watching.

Shambhu Bhai, a carpenter from Gujarat, took an oath to providing at least 51,000 birdhouses for free, some ten years ago. His dedication to bird welfare has garnered attention from various organizations. He is often invited as the chief guest at events like Environment Day, Water Day, Sparrow Day, where Shambhu distributes his nests among the common public.

Sana Firdaus had a keen interest in the creative arts since childhood. She utilizes her hobby to transform waste material into bird feeders. Numerous birds visit her house each morning and evening to enjoy food, leisure, and then depart.

The nests that Gurpreet installed some 16 years ago, have finally borne fruitful results. Almost 80 % of these nests are occupied with birds and 14 endangered species have returned to their original habitats. His organization Bird’s Environment and Earth Reviving Hands Society works for the wellbeing of these species.
