Smriti Mandhana is an Indian cricket player. In August 2014, Smriti Mandhana made her Test debut against England at Wormsley Park. In February 2019, she was appointed as the captain of the Indian women's T20I team for three matches against England.

Manpreet Singh is an Indian hockey player. He rose to prominence in 2021, when India won the bronze medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics (Tokyo) under his leadership. This was India’s first Olympic medal in hockey since 1980.

Tejaswini Bai, who won the Arjuna Award in 2011 and was a member of the Women’s Kabaddi team that won gold medals at the 2010 and 2014 Asian Games respectively, who lost her husband owing to Covid-19, has got an assistance of Rs 2 lakh from Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports

For the National Sports Awards 2020, Hockey India (HI) has revealed its nominations. Indian women's hockey team captain Rani has been nominated for the Khel Ratna Award

Rohit Sharma has been nominated for the Khel Ratna Award while Shikhar Dhawan, Ishant Sharma and Deepti Sharma have been nominated for the Arjuna Award

'Due to lockdown on account of outbreak of COVID-19, hard copies of nominations are not required to be sent. Scanned copies of the nominations duly signed by the applicant and recommending authority may be sent at above mentioned email ids, before last date of submission,' the sports ministry said

The 12-member committee is headed by Supreme Court judge Justice (Retd) Mukundakam Sharma and comprises sports secretary Radhey Shyam Jhulaniya, Sports Authority of India (SAI) director general Sandeep Pradhan, Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) CEO Commander Rajesh Rajagopalan, Mary Kom, Bhutia, ex-women's cricket team captain Anjum Chopra, celebrated former long jumper Anju Bobby George and table tennis coach Kamlesh Mehta among others
