The K Chandrashekar Rao led Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has registered a massive victory in Telangana. Praja Kutami with four parties seemed to be no match for the TRS and has not even managed to win 10% of the seats in Telangana. But it looks like the Congress chief in state Uttam Kumar Reddy will be the most affected by results.

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Uttam Kumar Reddy has surely won in Huzurnagar constituency by a margin of 7,000 votes. But his promise of not shaving his beard till the Congress forms government in Telangana might be a difficult one to follow.

Earlier, during campaigns, Reddy had said that he will not shave his beard till he brings Congress to power in the state. Now, with Praja Kutami, of which Congress is a part of, losing the elections, will Reddy stay true to his words and not shave his beard?

Telangana went into assembly elections on December 7 in 119 constituencies. The TRS has won 91 seats whereas Praja Kutami (Congress, Telugu Desam Party, Telangana Jana Samithi and CPI) has managed to get barely 21 seats.

Following the massive lead to the TRS, Uttam Kumar Reddy said, "Going by the distorted trends, there is a strong suspicion that EVM machines have been manipulated. We demand that 100 percent counting of voter-verified paper audit trail (VVPAT) must be taken up in all constituencies. All Congress candidates should submit letters to their returning officers demanding counting of VVPAT."

Earlier, when Chandrashekar Rao dissolved the assembly demanding early elections in Telangana, doubts were raised that it will prove costly to the TRS after the TDP-Congress and other two parties formed an alliance which was hailed as the Praja Kutami.

Rao had taken the decision of early election as he did not want Telangana voting to be influenced by Lok Sabha elections and the Modi wave.

Congress ex-MP Lagadapati Rajagopal had conducted a survey and expected results in favour of the Praja Kutami and predicted a tough fight between the Kutami and the TRS.

This encouraged the Congress leaders including Uttam Kumar Reddy who declared that he will not shave his beard until the Congress forms government.

In fact, important leaders of the Telangana Congress like Revant Reddy from Kodangal, DK Aruna have lost the election.

In 2014 elections the TRS had won 63 seats, Congress alone had won 20 seats, the TDP-BJP had won 21 seats, the AIMIM won seven seats and others had won eight seats.

This time, even four parties together (Praja Kutami) could not garner 20 seats.

With results that seems to be far away from many predictions and surveys could it be as Uttam Kumar Reddy has alleged, that there was tampering of EVMs or is it the clear mandate of the people of Telangana?
