Bagalkote: Devotees rush to Kudala Sangama river for a holy dip and then proceed to Kudalasangameshwara, Basavanna's Aikyamantap and other places of worship during Sankranti/Pongal festival. More than 9 million devotees come here every year. This year, the river has dried up due to drought. The water department arranged a different water tap for the devotees to take a bath.
Kudala Sangama Sukshetra is in Bagalkote district, 15 km from the Almatti dam, Karnataka. It is a confluence of two holy rivers, Krishna and Malaprabha. Kudala Sangama is also a centre of pilgrimage for devotees.
