As former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee battles for his life in New Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), old videos of the BJP stalwart are being circulated on social media.

In one such video, Vajpayee is seen with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Modi, who considers Vajpayee as his mentor, has often been seen quoting the legendary politician.

In this rare video, Modi is seen hugging Vajpayee, who playfully raises his hand as if to beat him, but embraces Modi back.

Not only this, the former prime minister was also seen patting Modi’s back.

The video has been uploaded by The Logical Indian on YouTube.

Vajpayee is currently on life support at AIIMS. The BJP leader was admitted on June 11, but his condition deteriorated drastically in the past 24 hours. He is suffering from kidney tract infection and chest congestion. His urine output has also been on the lower side.

Vajpayee was elected as the prime minister of India thrice between 1996 and 1999. During his last days in office, he became a diabetic and has only one functional kidney. In 2009, he also suffered a stroke and has been suffering from dementia ever since.
