Maharajganj: Abhishek Chaudhary, an innovator from Maharajganj, Uttar Pradesh, has designed a unique walking stick that is working of making headlines. Visually impaired people often encounter challenges navigating on their own and often sustain injuries. To address the struggles faced by the blind when no one is around to assist them at home, especially when they need access to basic facilities, Abhishek created the ‘Andhe Ki Lathi.’

The special feature

Abhishek Singh highlights that his walking stick enables a blind person to navigate without any assistance. The stick alerts the user of obstacles ahead through both sound and vibration. This feature has been installed to ensure safety of the user. The stick features an on-off button and is equipped with an ultrasonic sensor. Users can adjust the distance settings according to their preferences.

The buzzer in the cane

The cane features a buzzer that emits a sound signal when it detects a person or object in the person’s path. This feature alerts the blind person to move away from the obstruction. This feature will ensure the safety of the visually impaired people.

The battery

Abhishek’s walking stick is also equipped with a charging facility. It allows for easy recharging of its battery when depleted. Once fully charged, the battery can last for a minimum for 8 hours. If the buzzer feature is not used as much, the battery can last for at least 20 hours. Abhishek mentions that it has a capacity to function for up to 72 hours. Notably, the cane also provides signals through vibrations, making it accessible to people with impaired vision and hearing.
