On July 3, the Mumbai Dindoshi sessions court granted anticipatory bail to rape accused Binoy. The court had granted Kodiyeri Balakrishnan's oldest son Binoy bail under strict conditions including, presenting himself before police officers every week for a month.

The accused was also required to pay a security deposit of Rs 25,000.  He should not try to influence any witness, the court remarked.

The alleged rape came to light on June 13, when a 33-year-old former bar dancer, filed a complaint stating Binoy had raped her on the fake promise of marrying her. Her complaint also stated that Binoy had been sexually assaulting her for over 10 years (2008-2018) and that she has an 8-year-old child of whom Binoy is the father.
