Billionaire and CEO of Tesla Motors and SpaceX, Elon Musk, has confirmed his plans to visit India on April 10 through a post made on X (formerly Twitter). There is no exact date for his visit, but the post was made amid the rumours of Tesla searching for land to start its production in India.

Elon Musk posted on X, stating, "Looking forward to meeting with Prime Minister @NarendraModi in India!."

According to BBC, a senior government revealed that Elon Musk will be meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the last week of April. The meeting will be held at the PM's official residence in New Delhi.

People are expecting Elon to announce investment plans in India as the government, last month, reduced import taxes on electronic vehicles for manufacturers looking to invest $500 million and commence production in the country within three years.

PM Modi and Elon Musk previously met in June in New York. Since then, the company has been requesting the Indian government to reduce their import tax.

As per the reports by Reuters, Tesla has started the production of right-handed electric cars in its Germany plant to export to India in the upcoming months.

Musk recently posted on X and wrote, "India should have electric cars like every other country has electric cars. It's a natural progression to provide Tesla electric vehicles in India".

Indian carmakers like Tata Motors are trying to push for EVs in the Indian market. In 2023, only 2% of the total car sales in India were electric, but the government has planned to surge the numbers to 30% by 2030.
