Kerala's popular director Biju, on Friday, said he will boycott the state film awards ceremony if superstar Mohanlal is made the event’s chief guest.

Known as a bold director, Biju said he was against the decision of Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) president Mohanlal to reinstall actor Dileep into the film body and hence he will protest by staying away from the awards function.

Dileep is accused in the sexual assault case of a south Indian actress.

Most of the actors and technicians in AMMA had supported the return of Dileep to the association and not decided to back the victim. This has angered Biju and other artists too, who have decided to stay away from AMMA.

Some leaders from the film industry had expressed disappointment over Mohanlal's decision as the newly-elected chief of the association.

But now, director Biju has come out in the open and has expressed his displeasure and decision to stay away from the state awards function.

However, official confirmation on Mohanlal's participation is yet to be made. If done, Biju is set to write to the persons concerned regarding his decision.
