Mumbai: Author Rudyard Kipling's Jungle Book seems to be the cinematic flavour of the season. Shortly after Walt Disney came up with their rendition of the classic titled Jungle Book, there is another one in the offing that seems to be centred around the protagonist Mowgli.

Acclaimed actor and director Andy Serkis has re-imagined Kipling’s masterpiece for the streaming giant Netflix. The latest addition features a stellar star cast including Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Benedict Cumberbatch, Andy Serkis, Freida Pinto, Matthew Rhys and Naomie Harris along with newcomer Rohan Chand as Mowgli.

Titled Mowgli: The Legend of the Jungle, the film will release globally on Netflix on December 7 and will have an expanded theatrical release in additional theatres in the US and UK.

Disney and Warner Bros had announced their adaptation of Jungle Book almost at same time. With Disney's adaptation of their animation movie coming out first and becoming a phenomenal hit, the expectations are high.

Especially since the Warner Bros version is touted to be closer to Kipling's source material and Netflix has acquired the worldwide rights from them.
