Filmmaker Kabir Khan has completed the shoot of his first-ever original web series, The Forgotten Army, for Amazon, and is now prepping for his film based on India's 1983 Cricket World Cup. In the movie, Ranveer Singh plays the role of Kapil Dev and Nawazuddin Siddiqui is the coach of the winning team.

The film will go on floors later this year. However, we have come to know exclusively that Kabir is in talks with Ranbir Kapoor for a movie he plans to make after his movie on the 1983 World Cup. Kabir’s last movie was Tubelight with Salman Khan.

Says a trade source, “Kabir Khan is one of the finest directors of our times, along with Raj Kumar Hirani, Aditya Chopra, Aanand L Rai and Karan Johar. He features in the list of top 5 B-Town directors as Kabir is a very good director. His sense of storytelling, research and hard-core action drama make his movies an engrossing watch.

"The fact is Ranbir and Kabir have started discussions between them. It’s all very hush-hush right now and one doesn’t know whether it will materialise into a final project but yes, they are talking about doing a movie together. Ranbir has always loved Kabir’s work and the fine blend of commercial and sensible cinema that Kabir creates, and so he wants to work with him. They met before Ranbir left for Bulgaria for the shooting of Brahmastra, and talks have been on since then.”

If Ranbir and Kabir do get together to work in a movie it will certainly be interesting, adds the source. “There was talk that Salman and Kabir had heated arguments over how the film and its characters needed to be treated and there would be stand-offs between the two in front of everybody.

"People speculated that the fallout was definite when Ali Abbas Zafar was signed to direct the sequel of Ek Tha Tiger instead of Kabir. But Kabir and Salman have always dismissed the rumours and maintained an amicable front in public with the filmmaker and his wife Mini Mathur present at many of the Khan parties. But if Kabir does a movie with Ranbir (buzz is that Selman doesn’t like Ranbir), one wonders how Salman will react!”
