In a shocking development, Priyanka Chopra just quit one of the biggest films of the year – Ali Abbas Zafar's Bharat, but the news has immediately been followed up by her engagement to American singer, songwriter, actor, and record producer Nick Jonas. The two first met at the 2017 Met Gala, where they walked the red carpet, and their love is no secret after many a recent public spotting and Priyanka flying Nick down to meet her mother in India.

Says a source, “The news of Priyanka Chopra has come out on the same day – her leaving Bharat, getting engaged to Nick and shooting a video for Shonali Bose’s next movie, produced by Ronnie Screwwala and Siddharth Roy Kapur.

"It’s interesting that all stories have come on the same day where both her personal and professional lives have been discussed. There have been various speculations about Priyanka leaving Bharat, from the length of her role to her engagement and even the fact that she has signed another Hollywood film, but whatever the real reason, the buzz is that Salman Khan is extremely upset about it because he is closely associated with the film and related to Zafar, and has decided not to work with Priyanka again.”

Priyanka was to start shooting for Bharat from next month, so her walking out of it has come at a time which can prove costly for the Bharat team as they have to now scout for another actress to step into Priyanka’s shoes.

However, the source insists, “Salman’s close friend Katrina Kaif, who has been part of his Dabangg tours, has been approached for the role and is expected to play the role of Salman’s wife in the movie.

"Bharat is an official adaptation of the South Korean flick, Ode To My Father, and will start from the Indian Partition of 1947 and span over a period of over 50 years to 2010. Both Salman and the actress who plays his wife will don prosthetics for the aged couple’s roles.”
