Bengaluru: Present and former cricketers wished batting legend Sachin Tendulkar on his 47th birthday today (April 24). Also, fans started trending #HappyBirthdaySachin from last evening.

Tendulkar, who was born in Bombay (now Mumbai) on April 24, 1973, retired from international cricket in 2013. He played in a record 200 Tests and 463 ODIs besides featuring in one T20I.

Since making his international debut in 1989, Tendulkar ruled the cricket world for over two decades. He has millions of followers around the world. Despite having bid adieu to cricket, his supporters love him the same way.

Be it in any cricket ground, if Tendulkar is at the venue, chants of “Sachin, Sachin” go off. Recently, he was back playing, appearing for India Legends in the Road Safety World Series (RSWS).

Tendulkar’s former teammates and other cricketers took to Twitter to convey their wishes to the Master Blaster, who is not celebrating his birthday this year as the world fights the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

India captain Virat Kohli tweeted, "Happy birthday to the man whose passion for the game of cricket has inspired many. Wishing you an amazing year ahead paaji."

Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh wrote, “To the legend with an eternal sweet spot on the bat & in our hearts, here’s wishing MasterBlaster @sachin_rt a very happy bday. May ur life continue to shine like ur records & may u continue to inspire billions thru ur noble deeds. Loads of love & best wishes #HappyBirthdaySachin (sic).”

Tendulkar’s former opening partner Virender Sehwag said, “True that the great man could stop time in India when batting. But the biggest inspiration @sachin_rt Paaji’s career is summed up is in these two pictures. Much needed to remember especially in these difficult times that after every adversity comes victory #HappyBirthdaySachin (sic).”

VVS Laxman wrote, “Birthday Greetings to dear @sachin_rt . You were and continue to remain an inspiration. Wish you ever more joy and success in all that you do. #HappyBirthdaySachin (sic).”

Tendulkar is the holder of many cricket records. He is the only batsman to have scored 100 international hundreds. He is the leading run scorer in both Tests and ODIs. He was part of India’s 2011 World Cup winning team.
