Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri first met in 1984 in Delhi, before the start of his successful career in Bollywood. Later, SRK, Gauri married in 1991 in a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony. Now, both are proud parents of three children - Aryan, Suhana and AbRam.

In an old interview, Shah Rukh revealed that he had told Gauri, who hails from a Punjabi family to wear a burqa and also told her to change her name from Gauri to Ayesha.

Not just that, Gauri's relatives were also worried about Khan's religion as he was Muslim, and they were Hindus. Shah Rukh had once revealed a funny incident from his wedding reception when guests from Gauri's family side were seen whispering about the groom.

"I remember, when their whole family, old fashioned people, I respect them all and respect their beliefs, but at that time, in that old-fashioned reception, all of them were sitting there when I came in at 1:15, and they were whispering "Hmmm.. He's a Muslim boy. Hmm.. Will he change the girl's name? Will she (Gauri) become a Muslim?" the superstar said.

That was the time when Shah Rukh jokingly said, Gauri needs to read namaaz and will have to wear burkha, which made her relatives quiet.

Khan said, "They were all talking in Punjabi. So, I looked at the time and said, "Ok Gauri, put on your ‘burkha' and let's read the namaaz now. The whole family stared at us wondering if I had already changed her religion."

He then concluded by saying, "I had a lot of fun, but the lesson in all of this was that one should respect religions, but it should not come in the way of love. But it was a great wedding and it's still going strong."
