Shashi Tharoor injures head at Thiruvananthapuram temple

Thiruvananthapuram: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, the UDF candidate for the Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha seat, was injured on Monday after falling from a weighing scale at a Kerala temple during the thulabharam ceremony. The incident happened at the Gandhari Amman Kovil temple in Thampanoor, Thiruvananthapuram after the weighing scale on which Tharoor was sitting, broke.

Tharoor received six stitches on his head. The incident happened at around 11 am. Tharoor was rushed to the Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital and was later shifted to the Medical College hospital for further treatment.

Tharoor is contesting against NDA’s Kummanam Rajasekharan and the LDF’s C Divakaran. All the 20 Parliamentary constituencies in Kerala will go to polls in the third round of the seven-phased Lok Sabha election on April 23. The counting of votes is on May 23.
