Tirupur: 19 Bangladeshi nationals were arrested including a teenager for staying in Tamil Nadu’s Tirupur without legal documents. The accused had also obtained fake Aadhaar cards and posed as Indian citizens.
18 people were between the ages of 24 and 31 and one other was a teenager. The arrest took place when the police were conducting routine vehicle checks.
Police said that the immigrants stayed in the locality and worked in different knit-wear units. They also said that they had no passport or visa and had travelled in ferries across the border, illegally.
Mohammed Sojibhaider, a 27-year-old who was arrested, said that he had moved to Tirupur four years ago and had helped the others move to the city as well
