Kannur: Rishiraj Singh, Kerala director general of prisons and correctional services has introduced rewards of Rs 2,500 for prison officials who seize mobile phones from prisoners. The DGP, in a bid to identify more unauthorised mobile phones in prisons, has increased the reward amount offered to prison officials.
As such, the more mobile phones a prison officer seizes, the more reward he or she will receive.
10 mobile phones were seized on June 25, while 21 mobile phones were seized in Kannur Central Jail in the last nine days. Cash, tobacco, ganja, iron rods were also seized during the raids.
