Kalamassery booth: Repolling sees high voter turnout in Ernakulam Lok Sabha constituency

Kalamassery: Repolling in East Kadungalloor Service Cooperative Bank auditorium booth which falls under Kalamassery Assembly constituency of the Ernakulam Lok Sabha seat, started at 7 in the morning on Tuesday (April 30). Repolling is being conducted in booth number 83 after it was found that the presiding officer forgot to clear the mock votes from the machine before the actual voting commenced. 

According to sources, around 20% out of the voters cast their votes in the first few hours of the voting. On April 23, at the end of the election, a difference of 43 votes was found. The total number of votes cast was 715, but the voter-verifiable paper audit trial (VVPAT) machine displayed 758 votes.

Congress MLA Hibi Eden from UDF, CPI(M) district secretary P Rajeev of the LDF and Union minister Alphonse Kannanthanam from the NDA are the candidates contesting from Ernakulam. Counting of votes will take place on May 23.
