Trichy: Foreign currency worth Rs 19.82 lakh was seized from a passenger at Tamil Nadu’s Trichy airport, who was to board a flight to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Ali Abbas, identified as a Chennai resident left airport officials suspicious. Upon checking his bag, they found Saudi Riyals, Euros, Rs 4 lakh worth Japanese Yen, Malaysian Ringgits, Australian Dollars, Qatar Riyals and Swiss Francs.
The man was not arrested since the value was less than Rs 20 lakh.
