The incident happened at Siddharthnagar Mohalla of Bunnydevi Thana area, Aligarh, on Friday (July 11) where a newly-married woman named Anjana committed suicide just because her husband Amit refused to buy her a new sari. The family was planning a small function on Saturday and Anjana wanted a new sari. However, Amit refused to buy her one. Anjana argued with her husband and Amit stormed out of the room. When he returned later, he saw his wife hanging from the fan.
According to superintendent of police (SP), crime, Arvind Kumar, the dispute between the couple drove the woman to take this drastic step. The body has been sent for postmortem.
