Bengaluru: On January 13 morning, a group of people began to pelt stones at Empire Restaurant in Bengaluru's Arekere Road. During this mishap, no casualties of customers were recorded. However, four Swiggy employees were allegedly injured in an altercation that preceded the attack on the restaurant.

According to a Swiggy official who spoke to MyNation, the incident took place when a Swiggy executive and the restaurant manager met with an accident. Incidentally, the Swiggy executive was on his way to Empire Restaurant to pick up a delivery. The manager and the Swiggy executive got in to an altercation in which he was beaten up after which the Swiggy executive sought help from three of his colleagues who were also beaten up. All four Swiggy employees were hospitalised. Other Swiggy executives later came in protest.

The Arekere branch employees of Hotel Empire were reluctant to divulge details about this attack but said that it was caused due to an argument with Swiggy employees.

A case has been registered. An official statement and further details are awaited.
