Kanchipuram revenue officers attempt to seize train in Tamil Nadu

Kanchipuram: The Kanchipuram revenue officers on November 30 had tried to seize a train following a sub-court order as the railways were yet to pay the compensation to the landowners. The land had been acquired in 1999. 

Reacting to the sub-court law, the staff of the Kanchipuram sub-court in Tamil Nadu, accompanied by a couple of police officers, reached the station ahead of the arrival of the Puducherry-Egmore-Tirupati train on Friday morning. Later, the officials then approached the engine driver. Showing him the judgment, they ordered him to get off the train. In 2017, the Kanchipuram sub-court had directed the railways to pay the compensation of Rs 1.30 crore to four people whose 1.5 acres of land was acquired for laying railway lines in 1999.
