Gandhi Jayanti: Does Kamal Haasan, who launched his party in Madurai, follow Mahatma?

In the year 1921, Mahatma Gandhi ditched his grand Gujarati attire for simple cotton dhoti and shawl to travel from Chennai to Madurai. Actor-turned-politician, Kamal Haasan may not change to dhoti and shawl like the Father of the Nation, but he travelled from Chennai to Madurai while launching his party Makkal Needhi Maiam, and said that he would wear people's support, just like how Gandhiji put preferences of people ahead of everything in his life. This gives rise to a question as to whether the leader is following in the footsteps of Gandhiji at least in the way he kick started his political journey.
