Fishermen in Ramanathapuram hold one-day strike against Sri Lankan Navy

Ramanathapuram: On December 1, condemning the abuse of Sri Lankan Navy against Ramanathapuram fishermen, the community members held a one-day strike. On November 28, the Sri Lankan Navy patrolling ship capsized one of the Ramanathapuram fishing boat (Velayudam) and detained four fishermen from the sinking boat. The victims are identified as Ravi, Katturaja, Varghese and Ramu. With all the atrocities the Sri Lankan Navy is reportedly causing to the fishermen, the community's trade is affected by nearly Rs 3 crore.
