Atanu Das had a strong inclination towards sports from a young age. At 14, he began participating in archery competitions. He attended an archery academy in Kolkata to hone his skills. 

Atanu Das’s international career

In the year 2008, he competed in the World Youth Championships and made his international career debut. 

At the 33rd Junior National Archery Championships held in 2010, Atanu Das clinched his first gold medal. 

Atanu Das won a bronze medal and a gold medal in the Sahara Senior National Archery Championship held in Vijaywada, and National Archery Sports Competition held in Jamshedpur. 

Atanu Das’s win with Deepika Kumari

In 2013, Atanu Das along with Deepika Kumari won the bronze medal in the Archery World Cup Mixed Team event held in Colombia.

In the year 2016, he was selected to represent India at the Rio Olympics in the recurve men's individual events.

In the year 2019, he won bronze medal in three events including Recurve Individual, Recurve Men's Team and Recurve Mixed Team in the Asian Archery Championship.
