Donald Trump's candidacy is interrupted when Nikki Haley wins the Republican primary in the District of Columbia. Haley received 62.9% of the vote, compared to 33.2% for former US President Donald Trump. It's crucial to remember that Washington is mostly a Democratic state with just a few percent of Republicans registered.

Despite Trump's early campaign domination, Haley remained confident that voters in the states that followed needed an alternative to him after the latter's defeat in her home state of South Carolina last week. Haley has maintained her dedication to the race in spite of early defeats, providing voters with an option to Trump in the next elections.

By doing this, Haley has made history by being the first female Republican presidential primary winner. Not only is she the first Indian-American to win a Republican primary, but she also won the Democratic primary. Previous Indian American presidential contenders Vivek Ramaswamy in 2024, Kamala Harris in 2020, and Bobby Jindal in 2016 had all lost all three primaries.

Haley conducted a rally in Washington, DC, before heading back to North Carolina and taking part in Super Tuesday primaries in several states. She made the lighthearted comment, "Who says there aren't any Republicans in D.C., come on," during the event.

However, Karoline Leavitt, Trump Campaign's Press Secretary stated that, the outcomes in Washington, DC, tonight confirm the goal of President Trump's campaign: clearing the swamp and prioritizing America. Although Nikki has been overwhelmingly rejected by the rest of America, the lobbyists and DC insiders who seek to uphold the failing status quo have recently anointed her Queen of the Swamp. Their queen has been taken by the swamp.
