Ram Navami turns bigger in Bengal: BJP, VHP, Bajrang Dal throw weight behind celebrations

In a month-long exercise by Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Bengal is all set to witness huge processions, bike rallies and rath yatras in every district. The biggest show of strength is expected to be in Purulia where the BJP is in the strongest position in comparison to other regions. A concept unheard of in Bengal until till a couple of years ago, Ram Navami has caught the imagination of the state of late. In 2017, there was a massive show of strength that caught even the ruling Trinamool by surprise.

With the saffron surge and the ongoing election, BJP candidates are seen promoting this event across Bengal, which was till now the domain of VHP and Bajrang Dal.

The VHP will organise around 700 small, medium and big rallies across south Bengal. But with the Trinamool expressing apprehension of using it for electoral swings, the law enforcement agencies anticipate a more eventful Ram Navami.
