Madurai: Poll papers, EVMs accessed by someone unauthorised?
S Venkatesan, CPM candidate has alleged that a woman had been in the storeroom where the electronic voting machines and poll-related documents had been kept. He further alleged that the documents had been photocopied at a private centre.
Madurai: CPM Lok Sabha candidate S Venkatesan claimed that security had been breached at Madurai Medical College where electronic voting machines and other election related documents had been stored. He alleged that a woman who was unauthorised to enter premises gained access to documents without the knowledge of the candidates.
Venkatesan further alleged that the woman took photocopies of the documents at a centre outside the premises. He questioned how an unauthorised person was allowed entry and sought officials to show him the CCTV footage.
However, officials of the Madurai district administration clarified that it was the personal assistant to the Assistant returning officer who had accessed the documents for official purposes.
