Ahead of phase 2 polls in Karnataka, Income tax officials seize crores stashed in a vehicle
Crores was recovered from a stepney when income tax officials conducted vehicular checks in Karnataka. Ahead of phase 2 of the polls, cash meant for distribution was seized from various locations in Karnataka.
Goa: The Income Tax department in Karnataka-Goa continues to seize illegal money while the Lok Sabha elections are underway.
Illegal Money worth Rs 4 crore has been seized from various locations. Vehicle that was heading to Shivamogga was intercepted and cash in Rs 2000 denominations was stuffed in stepney wheel.
Credible sources said that the seized cash was meant for distribution to people.
IT raids in several other locations such as Bagalkot, Goa, Vijayapura etc all resulted in cash seizure. The amount varied between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 1 crore.
